JOB DESCRIPTION
Our Client is the largest manufacturer and exporter of corporate branded materials in the region. Due to expansion and growth, an exciting position of a Sales Manager has arisen.
The successful candidate will be required to take charge of the Sales and Marketing function in a manner that will ensure that the set performance objectives are met on a rolling basis and business plans are achieved efficiently, build the sales team, which will deliver on the agreed targets for their respective portfolios and ultimately create a legacy, which will continue to sustain the sales and marketing function in the long run.
The sales manager will report to the MD, this position will be based in Nairobi at the Industrial Area
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and coordinate the sales activities of the team and guide them to ensure Company objectives are met.
- Ensure that there is proper communication with all the clients, clients are well serviced through regular visits and constant communication by the sales team.
- Ensure regular visits by the sales staff are made to their allocated territories in the Region.
- Monitor the daily, weekly, and monthly activities of the sales team to ensure that targets are achieved and the market potential is realized.
- Review daily, weekly and monthly sales reports prepared by the sales team, take necessary action where there are deficiencies.
- Attend to customer complaints and take remedial actions immediately.
- Ensure that the clients receive the highest quality service from the Company by meeting delivery schedules in the right order, right quantity and quality.
- Target new customers within Kenya and the Region with a view to increasing market penetration.
- Ensure full and correct use of SAP B1 ERP system by all sales staff, monitor the data input and generate reports for the Management on the degree of optimum use of the System by the sales staff.
- Ensure that all enquiries are input into the SAP B1 system, all communication to clients bear the system generated Enquiry Number and follow up is done on the progress to the completion of the job.
- Approve the job cards for confirmed orders and seek authorization of the Managing Director before the start of production.
- Prepare annual business plans, sales budgets and forecasts on a regular basis and obtain Management approval of the same.
- Analyze sales volumes by products and margins achieved on each, make recommendations to the Management on which products to focus on and where changes are required.
- Propose sales and marketing campaigns to the Management to enhance sales and execute these within approved budgets and guidelines.
- Authorise and control expenses of the sales department within the limits of authority approved by Management.
- Continually seek out, investigate and evaluate sales processes and recommend improvements to the Management for review and approval.
- Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed where they exist and create new ones where there are non-existent, in line with the laid down Company procedures.
- Work closely with the Human Resources Department to recruit, develop, manage, motivate and control staff in the sales department so as to maximize their performance.
- Ensure that sales department employees receive the training and skills development required to meet the sales objectives.
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- At least Seven years’ Experience with solid results preferably with corporate clients.
- A relevant university Degree.
- Proficient in computer operations and working experience of SAP ERP software.
- Well groomed, excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent administration and management skills, knowledge of business and sales principles of strategic selling and coordination of marketing projects and marketing resources.
- Corporate and personal selling skills, able to quickly identify customer needs, meet quality standards for services and evaluate customer satisfaction.
